Part of our homeschooling activities, this year, will be learning simple cooking. Following recipes, and instructions, is a fundamental part of learning. Here is a simple, and healthy recipe your children can make.
1/4 cup peanut butter
2 tbsp plus 1 1/2 tsp honey
4 1/2 tsps brown sugar
2 tsp milk
3 medium firm bananas
6 popsicle sticks
2 crunchy oat and honey granola bars, crushed
In a small saucepan, combine the peanut butter, honey, brown sugar and milk. Cook until heated through, stirring occasionally.
Peel bananas and cut in half widthwise, insert a popsicle stick into one end of each banana half. Spoon peanute butter mixture over bananas to coat completely. Sprinkle with granola. Serve immediately or place on waxed paper lined baking sheet and freeze.
Obviously using the stove, for young cooks has to be used with discretion and monitoring. I think these would be great for snack day, for kids who go to public school, as well as homeschool groups. Enjoy
