Free or Frugal Friday

First off let me just say something quick about Time 4 Learning.  For the month of April, your first month is only 10 dollars.  That is 50% off, and April is almost over, so you might just as well try it.  No, this is not my review, I am just aware of the offer and sharing it.

There are so many wonderful free, or almost free websites to use for homeschool, after school, or just to supplement your kids over Summer.  I won't share the ones I don't like, lol.  None of these I have affiliation with, except Currclick.

First one is Easy Peasy Homeschool. This woman has dedicated so much time to making a free curriculum for anyone to use.  It is amazing.  My kids didn't care for it a ton, but if you have no money, or money is really tight, it is awesome.  There is even high school now too.

Second is, Currclick.  Currclick offers free and paid options for the items offered.  Most are made by homeschoolers.  They have live classes that are just amazing.  Check out Currclick for sure.

Last, but not least, for this week, is Forensics Illustrated.  This is a free, and complete Forensics class for High School.  I will definitely have my son take this one during his high school years.  Check it out!

They will learn the key features of PowerPoint and all the wonderful tools available for creating awesome presentations. They will discover the multiple uses for this presentation software, including how they can use it for digital notebooking in their homeschool.

Class sessions will include a group lesson with a live demonstration and time for the students questions. Students will receive handouts of the material covered in each lesson, as well as project ideas to apply what they have learned.

Each class session will be recorded, with the link to the recording emailed to the class following each session.

Simply Music Summer Camp

Thursdays, Aug 5-26 at 1:00 pm Central, OR Mondays, Aug 9-30 at 9:00 am Central

Here is your opportunity to sample a month of Simply Music lessons! You will learn some basics of piano, beginnings of chords, and several songs!

Student home materials for camp are optional and can be purchased for $20 after signing up for the class. Please allow 1-2 weeks for materials to arrive - in the USA, longer outside of the USA.

**After purchase, complete enrollment by following the steps in the downloaded pdf or in the purchase note sent via email. Purchase note can also be viewed in your Currclick account, under purchases.

Founded by Neil Moore, Simply Music is a remarkable, Australian- developed piano and keyboard program that offers a breakthrough in music education. This unique method has children, teens, adults and seniors, playing great sounding blues, classical, contemporary and accompaniment pieces - immediately - from their very first lessons. In stark contrast to traditional methods that require students to learn music-reading as the means of learning to play, Simply Music teachers temporarily delay music-reading and introduce a revolutionary, 'playing-based' methodology.

This remarkably natural approach to learning music initially involves exposing students to a vast array of unique, copyrighted concepts that unfold directly onto the keyboard and produce unprecedented results.

Having lessons with a Simply Music teacher means experiencing the pleasure and satisfaction that comes from immediately playing a vast repertoire of great-sounding music. Ongoing lessons are scheduled to begin in September. (You must be a resident of the USA, Canada, Austrailia or New Zealand to participate in a class from Natural Notes Piano School )

Tami Duvall, Accredited Simply Music Instructor. I am a veteran homeschooling Mom of 6 ranging from 3-24 and 2 grandchildren age 4yrs and 3 months. I have always loved teaching and delight in preserving a child's love of learning.

When I began playing piano many years ago, Simply Music was not around, and I struggled with the common frustrations of the traditional reading based approach to learning piano. I was completely thrilled when I found there was a better way to learn and teach piano. Simply Music is that better way! Not only have I found success in playing but have been able to share this method with my children and many other students, children and adults. I have seen amazing result in student's experience of learning by Simply Music method. They are exposed to not only classical, but blues, contemporary, accompaniment and even composing their own pieces.

Have you ever wondered where downhill racers get their energy from? No, I don’t mean energy drinks or candy bars! I mean, what powers them to reach speeds of 80 to 90 miles per hour coming down the mountain? There aren’t any engines or jet packs on their backs. Where does the energy come from to give them all that speed? Well, the secret lies in a little something called potential and kinetic energy and Science Jim will tell you all about it.

Keeping your Body Healthy, Spiritually and Physically

By Kaitlyn Adams, Age 12

It is very important to keep our bodies fit, spiritually and physically, because it keeps us connected with our body and with God. Food and nutrition are important to our bodies because that is what our body will run on. Exercising is also a huge necessity because it makes our bodies stronger and it keeps us internally and externally fit. Keeping our soul fit is the most important of all because it is important to keep our spirit pure and important to keep in touch with our creator, Jesus Christ, our God.

What we put into our bodies is a very important factor of our health because this will determine what our bodies are going to function on. It is absolutely essential that we eat healthy. Putting nutritious foods into our bodies are like fuel to keep our bodies running. Eating candy or “junk food” is okay every once in a while, but if we continually fuel ourselves with “junk food”, our bodies will start to slow down and eventually die quicker than normal. The food pyramid is a great way to prioritize what we eat. It helps us keep on track and realize how we should be eating rather than what we are really eating on a daily basis. Another thing that helps to keep our bodies healthy is vitamins. Taking assorted types of vitamins can benefit the internal and external parts of our bodies and help boost our immune systems. I want to stress how important it is to take vitamins to keep our bodies healthy and strong when we are young because our bones stop growing when we are old. Keeping our bodies healthy as a youth can really affect how fit our body will be when we get older. Eating healthy is an essential part of our lives because nutrition and good eating habits will put us one step closer to healthy living.

Have you ever heard the expressions “use it, or lose it”? It’s true! If we do not use our body, our muscles and skin will become weak and flabby and our hearts and lungs will not function efficiently. Eventually, we will not be able to move at all. Our bodies were made to move, they actually crave it. Regular exercise is necessary to prevent the probability of getting a disease. Over 95% of people that don’t exercise are more prone to disease. Exercising is very important if we want to control our weight. If we do not exercise at all, we gain unnecessary calories that tag onto our skin and make us fat. Exercising can also build our stamina. For instance, if you want to be a professional biker, you have to work on it every day. You cannot complete a marathon on your first day because your stamina has not been built up yet. This goes for any sport. Exercise is extremely important because it keeps our bodies externally fit as well as internally fit!

Most importantly, it is essential to keep your mind spiritually fit. Having a good relationship with your family is a definite plus because they are the ones that live with us and know our struggles. If there we develop a good relationship with our families we can rely on them to keep us accountable for our decisions. Making god choices in friends is also important. They can keep us accountable and they’ll always be there whenever we need them. In Proverbs 17:17 it says, “A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.” Most importantly, it is necessary to have a one-on-one relationship with your Lord, Jesus Christ. Praying to Him and reading your bible everyday can refresh your soul to His word. In the Book of John 1:1 it says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”God will listen to our every cry, but we have to tell him things in order for Him to talk to us. God’s love is so deep for us. He loves us no matter what and he will always be there for us. In 1 John 4:19 we are told, “We love because He first loved us.” It is very important to have special relationships with friends, family, and most importantly, God, so that our spirit will be spiritually fit.

Being physically and spiritually healthy is very important because the bible tells us to make good use of what he gave us. He gave us bodies, and to live physically productive lives. Eating healthy and keeping track of what we eat is beneficial to our body Exercise is important because it helps prevent disease, control our weight, and increases our stamina. Spiritual fitness is the most important because we are communicating with our very own creator and feeding our soul the Word of God. If we keep our body and spirit fit, we can succeed in every which way in life.

About Toni Williams of Essay Writer's Workshop

My name is Toni Williams and I am the creator of Essay Writing Workshop. I became interested in Currclick after I tutored the dyslexic daughter of one of my homeschooling mothers. I found that I had a lot to offer parents that may struggle with reading and writing difficulties that their children may be having. This experience gave me new insight to the world of homeschooling and the unique benefit it has to a child.

I have worked as an elementary school teacher, curriculum designer, college instructor and independent tutor. I have a bachelor's degree in education from the University of South Florida and a master's degree in language arts from San Diego State University.

I love Currclick, I have used them several times. A lot of their items are ebooks, but they do offer other products as well. One of the things I did not realize they have, but am very excited about is live classes, taught by either a teacher, or homeschooling parent. Their prices are very reasonable, in my opinion. I am very happy because the public schools have done away with summer school, and I have a friend that can not afford a tutor for her son to take summer Algebra. Currclick is offering the live class for 9.99 for 50 classes. I will be very happy to refer my friend to this. Some of the other classes they are offering, live, are music appreciation, science camp, basic spanish, American girl book club, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. There are a total of 37 classes being offered. To check them out you can click the big Currclick banner above, which will take you directly to their site. I hope everyone can find something they like.

Tomorrow is test day, so lesson plans to post. A quick note about Idol last night, I was crying when Allison left. I hope she find success in whatever she does. It was really touching that she was crying while she sang Cry Baby, very fitting.
