Waiting for Fay Plus Math Teaching Ideas

Well we are still waiting for Fay, and it is starting to get nerve racking. It appears we will miss a direct hit, and it never got stronger than a Tropical Storm. It is maintaining its 60 mile an hr winds, however, despite being over land. We will most likely get heavy rain, and need to watch for tornadoes. We are currently under flood watches, but no tornado watches yet. South Florida, is just getting hammered by this storm, and I wish them all the best. I hope they are all safe, and heading the watches and warnings.

Now on to some Homeschool information. DJ will be learning Division this year, and I am just a little nervous about it. I am very good at math, but teaching it is a bit different. I found this great site, that has great ideas for teaching math. Multiplication, and Division are the main topics with teaching tips. It has games, tips, information, free worksheets to print, and teaching ideas. Go to http://www.teachingideas.co.uk/maths/contents07multiplicationdivision.htm to check it out. I will be using some of their teaching ideas, for sure.

Ouch, I hope the brunt of the storm passes you by. After the last couple of years, it would be nice to have a few milder hurricane seasons for a bit.

This storm is crazy, it hasnt done much of anything that they predicted. It looks like today, through Friday, will be our days to watch the sky.

Yeah I was home while we had a tropical storm (Eduoard)- you are always wondering if it will strengthen etc.

On the math - my wife used Saxon (or Saxon;s) and was very pleased with the teaching methods in the books.

Thanks Barry, I will check those out too. Did your wife homeschool your children? Have a great day.

i hope the storm did miss hitting your place. hope everything will be well. at least you are homeschooling your kids, you do not have to worry about how they are in the middle of the storm when they're in school. I know you can do very well teaching your kids Math, but if ever you'll need some help later in Math or Chemistry (that is too far from now), I may be of help.

betchai, thank you very much, I will most definately keep that in mind. Being able to do math, and teaching it arent really the same, so I may be in need of your services some time. Thank goodness for archives, so I dont have to worry about losing all the great info, I collect on this blog. By the way I checked your blog, and yes yours is one of my favorites too.
