A Change to 6th Grade History and Tests

While looking for construction paper, that I was certain was in the garage, I came across The Story of the World Medieval Times.  Now, Caitlin was going to do the Wild West, this coming up year for History.  But, now, I have changed my mind, and she agreed that Medieval Times sounded pretty interesting.  I mean who doesn't love castles, princesses, and dragons. 

I have started the very daunting task of putting our homeschool portfolios together.  Our evaluation is next month.  I am kind of picky, and meticulous, so it takes me a while.  Plus, it gives me lots of time to continue to evaluate and see where we need improvement.  I say we, because I need to constantly adapt, and improve as well as the children. 

I also changed the tests that I am going to give them, before our evaluations.  Caitlin is not super confident in computer testing, as indicated by her ck12 lessons that I went through with a fine tooth comb today.  So, she will be getting a printed paper test.  DJ will be doing a practice online SAT test.  We have been doing the question of the day, for sometime, and I think he is ready to give it a try.  It is free, so it can only be a great learning tool.

I want both of these tests done before our evaluations.  DJ will be doing his next week, and I will order Caitlin's probably next Friday.  We were supposed to go to the springs today, but unfortunately the weather, and both kids caught a cold, so we were unable to go. 

Photo Fun Friday: Caitlin And The Castle

Today for Photo Fun Friday, I am sharing an Eco-friendly Arts and Crafts project.

As some of you know we did a whole four week lesson on reducing, reusing, and recycling. So I was thrilled when I was offered to do a review on this lovely castle craft. The castle is made from 45% of post consumer materials, and is 100% recyclable. It is easy to assemble, took maybe five minutes, and comes with the paints and paint brushes to complete the project. It also come with 6 different shields for your child to paint and make their own. If your child is enchanted by knights, castles, kings, princes and princesses, then they would fall in love with this, as did Caitlin. It is also great if you happen to be studying Medieval Times in your homeschooling lessons.

As you can see from the pictures, Caitlin was prepared to paint the whole castle herself. She was having a grand time, but decided to let mom, dad, and brother help. When it was done, took a few hours total, she instantly made the castle the Littlest Pet Shop castle, and has been playing with it ever since. Happy #5 Caitlin

I can not believe my baby turned 5 today. It is funny, both of my kids were born at almost the exact time of the day, 9:30 PM You can see her on her new bike, she was so excited. We did not give her all her presents, because next Sunday, my sister is coming from NY, and we are having their birthdays together then. We did get her a small cake for today too, and her big princess cake next week. My kids would never say they got too much cake LOL.The video clip was taken by DJ on his kids camera, that we did not even know did such a thing. My husband added the music.
