Corn Snake On My Gas Tank Ugh!!!

My husband was doing yard work this morning, and what do you think he found? Yes, that is right, another snake, and yet another breed of snake. I seriously think I have to move. I grew up in rattle snake country, and never once saw a snake, for 35 years, not even one. I have lived here almost three years, in this house, in the town, and have seen five snakes, all different. So while my husband, and kids were staring at it, trying to decide what it was, I was standing on the porch yelling at them to get away from it, and waving my hands all around. Can you hear me hyperventilating? It seems it is a corn snake, which supposedly is very harmless. Harmless, it can still bite can't it? This is not the actual one, I couldn't think straight enough to get the camera, but I did get the pleasure of looking at it, and this is what it looked like. It was the slowest moving snake I have ever had the displeasure of seeing. Even after poking it with a stick, it just moseyed along like it owned the place. So now I have to walk around my own yard with a big stick, or hammer, just to go in the back yard. I thought having dogs was supposed to ward the snakes off. Whoever told me that, was so wrong. I even got a second dog, and the snakes still come to my yard. I think they know I don't like them, and they all sit around laughing at me. Ms Laura, and Ms Kristy I know you are laughing at me. Ugh!!!!!!
