Weather For Kids

The kids are doing awesome, at the end of this school year. Usually it is a battle to keep them going towards the end, but this year they have done awesome. One of the things that helps is all the fun stuff we have done this year. I have incorporated into our school week a lot more fun activities, including a weekly co-op, volunteer days, 4H, and bi-weekly playdates, oh and painting class. All these things have helped to break up the monotony we call school. We also have been walking at least three days a week. This may have to taper off over the summer months because it is so unbearably hot, even in the morning hours. One of the things I want to focus more on next year, for both of them, is the weather. I am a bit of a weather geek, and would love them to learn more too. The little video below is a fun intro to the weather. I will be adding tons more of fun videos over the summer months. The leak that we had on Tuesday, did very minimal damage, praise the Lord, and my mom got one of her cars fixed, and didn't cost a small fortune. So some good news at the end of this week.

Adverbs and Weather

We normally would do Science on Tuesday, but we have other plans for tomorrow, that I will share tomorrow. So today we are doing Science, namely the weather. DJ bombed his assignment last week on layers of the atmosphere, so we will be reviewing that. We are also reviewing grammar, namely adverbs. Every time I think we have it down, it just seems to fade away. At any rate the two videos below can be used in your homeschool lessons as well. I also found a great kids weather website, with games and all kinds of other activities. It has been exceptionally hot and dry here, in northern Florida. It will cool a bit over night. The pool is coming along nicely. I do not like to shovel snow, but 6 inches of algae is not much fun either.

Weather And Seasons Some Of My Favorites

Tomorrow for Science class we are reviewing both what we learned about seasons, and clouds. I am always looking for new, and interesting sites to add to my favorite education sites at the bottom of this blog. I update it as often as I can, but sometimes they just sit in my favorites. Here are some favorite websites I use for teaching weather, and the seasons. The scholastic link is awesome, and if you don't already use it you should. The others are newer to me, and I have not had a chance to fully explore their whole sites. These too will be added to the bottom of this site for easy access to anyone who cares to use them. Over summer vacation I will be updating, and deleting any that are no longer working, or I have found to not be useful.
