Back To Work I Go

Anyone that reads my blog, on a regular basis, knows that at Christmas time I had a tif with my boss, about something that was rightfully mine. Because of that I have not worked in 5 weeks. Some because of the tif, and some because Medicaid funding to Nursing Homes has been cut, forcing them to cut their nursing hours. I was starting to sweat between standing my ground, and running out of money. Yesterday they called me, and offered back my Friday nights. This works great because I have a set schedule again, but do not have to work, and sleep the whole weekend. I start back tonight, and I am very much relieved. This also means we will be able to go to Seaworld, as planned, in March. I was very disappointed to have to possibly tell my children we would not be able to go. It all worked out in the end, but it was a tough go.

Graduating Early For Homeschoolers: Good Idea Or Not?

This was a topic that was brought up, on one of my homeschool groups. It got me thinking, what will we do, when my children are old enough to consider it. Here in Floria, Homeschool children, dont have to earn a certain number of credits to graduate. Matter of fact, they dont regulated what you teach, or dont teach your children at all. You must show that your child, is showing progression, though. The question, posted was, if your child is say 15 or even 16, and has met the requirements for graduation, would you let them graduate, and move to college. I am not really sure how they came to the conclusion, that all high school requirements had been met, when there arent any for homeschooled children. At any rate, the basic question, of graduating early, would depend for me. I personally think 15 or 16, is way too young to go off to college, especially away from home or living on campus. If they wanted to take college level courses, at a Community College, and still be at home, that would be a good idea, and great option. If they wanted to work, and get experience in a certain field, before deciding what major to take in college, that would be another great option. Just graduating High School, though and moving off on their own, to a full time college life, would not work for me at age 15 or 16, matter of fact I am not so sure about 17. So what do you think about this subject? Would you let your 15 or 16 year old, go off to college, on their own. If yes, why? If no, why?
