The Boys In Pink, Undefeated, and Seasons

Wow how is that for a headliner. Yesterday the NFL, or National Football League, helped increase breast cancer awareness by wearing the color pink. Yes, big, burly football players in pink. Some wore pink cleats, pink caps, pink wristbands, pink logos on their jersey or helmet. As a woman I must personally thank the NFL, their players, and coaches for making breast cancer awareness, more aware. Speaking of football, I won yesterday, maintaining my undefeated status. It is so very exciting. Thanks to all of you who wished me luck, and to Peyton Manning, the best QB ever. Without him, and his average of 100 points per week, has made me unstoppable.

Tomorrow for Science we are going over the four seasons. DJ already did a post, on his take of the seasons, know he gets the lesson plan. Below are two cute videos, that help to explain the seasons, and the earth movements.

Last Science Of The Year Earth's Oceans

Today is our last Science day of the third grade. Our lesson is about our ever changing earth, from wind, water, heat, and pressure. I picked this video by National Geographic, because they have stunning images, and wonderful information. I often record episodes to DVR for later use in class. Tomorrow I will be starting a new set of content about health care on this blog. Is it is meant to be informative, and data collecting of sorts. I hope to get a lot of input, from readers.

Wow Nasty Storms, Flooding, Satellites

I have been awake since 3:30 AM dealing with nasty rain, thunder, lightning, and wind. My husband, and kids pretty much slept through it, but my loving dog needed to sit on my lap, for six hours. I finally could just get back online, the wind kept knocking out the power. We have been in tornado watches, since last night. They finally ended for us, but it just came over the weather radio that one was spotted just south of here, in Pasco, and Lake county. We really did not need the 4 or 5 inches of rain, we got over night. All the local springs, Manatee, Hart, and Fanning are all flooding, as well as the Santa Fe, and Suwannee Rivers. They are not expected to crest until sometime Saturday. While we are not immediately close to any of these bodies of water, we do know people who are. It is a stressful kind of time.

Today for science we are covering Satellites. I came across this very cool website, that is free, and awesome. Check it out for all your space learning needs. Go here to check it out.

Math: Subtract 4 digit numbers, multiplication, division
Language Arts: review skills, possessive pronouns
Spelling: Lesson 27- write each spelling word two times each, and circle the vowels
Vocabulary: Lesson 27- use each vocabulary word in a sentence.

Science Light and Color

Tomorrow's science lesson is about color and light. To supplement our book lesson plan will be these very cool Bill Nye the Science guy videos. As I have stated I find combining reading, with visual, and auditory lessons helps my children retain information better. These videos are very informative, and entertaining for children, or adults even.

Our Changing Earth

Today for Science class, we are learning about our changing Earth. Here are 3 vidoes that we will be using to supplement, the lesson plan. I find my kids learn best, if they can see it as well as hear it, or read it. Fell free to watch them, and use them. The 4D Globe one, is really cool.
