The pink blogs represents support, and education for Breast Cancer survivors, sufferers, and all women who need to take care of their breasts. Be sure to get your mammograms, if you are at high risk, or over the age of 40. Do breast self exam every single month, and report any lumps, or changes to your doctor. A lot of communities offer free breast exams, so be sure to check for them, if you are uninsured.

No More Entrecard, The Great Lakes Lighthouses

First I must start with my frustration with Entrecard. I do not know what they are doing over there anymore, but they certainly do not enforce their own rules for standards of blogs. This is the second week I have gotten a virus from an Entrecard blog. There are blogs full of redirects, automatic downloads, freeze frames, pop ups, etc, and quite frankly I am not going to use them anymore until they fix it, or clean up their membership. If you are a member of my blogging for fun group, I will obviously continue to visit, and comment on those blogs. I will have to go back to traffic exchanges, and other methods, for traffic, at least for now.

Tomorrow for Social Studies, we are doing how lakes form. I could not find a cool video, for the subject, but I did find a cool video showing lighthouses of the Great Lakes. Can You Believe It Is September 1st Already?

I can not believe it is September already. We have one more week of summer vacation, then kindergarten, and fourth grade begins. I look forward to another year of sharing tips, and ideas with all of you who may use them. I have started my Christmas shopping, yes it is true. I usually start in August, last year I was delayed though. This year I wasted no time. I find it easier to buy something every paycheck, rather than try to buy everything at once. DJ who is now nine, is not so easy to buy ahead for, but he does give me tidbits here, and there. My husband, and Caitlin, are easier. This year, I want to make the ladies in my family some earrings, as their gifts. Anyway the point of this post was not Christmas, see how I get off track, it was to thank my top Entrecard droppers, for the month of August. Forced Participation!

First let me start by saying, I have been blogging, for about a year, and a half. I found Entrecard on Mylot, from another member. I love Entrecard, as you can see from the video below, it marketed as a electronic business card, but is basically a one to one traffic exchange, with extra benefits. This blog gets about 50% of its traffic from Entrecard, with the other half coming from search engines and other sources. This is much improved from almost 100% coming from Entrecard when I first started. So you can see Entrecard really does work, and is quite beneficial.

So why am I doing a post? Well one of the blogs I read every day, had mentioned that she had been refused advertising on a blog, because she never left any comments on that blog. I had mentioned before there is a big push, from some bloggers, at Entrecard to make Entrecard somehow force members to participate in blogs they view every day. So here are my thoughts.

I personally will not participate in anything that bullies you into leaving comments on any blogs. First of all it takes a number of hours to just drop your cards, each day. Imagine if you had to leave comments on every blog you visited to maintain your rank, or be allowed to purchase advertising space. It would literally take you all day to do such a thing. Two, there are many blogs I visit that do not even add new posts, so how can you leave a comment. Three, why would you want someone to leave a comment on a subject that they either have no knowledge of, or feel the post is just not something they want to comment on? Four, there are a ton of blogs that do not even post your comment, if you do not agree with their point of view. Why would you waste your time? Five it is a traffic exchange system, it works for most people, why all of a sudden all these extra demands?

If you drop on my blog, I will drop back. If you purchase advertising from me, I will approve it unless offensive to this blog. If you leave me a comment, I post it, unless you leave me penis enhancement or some other dumb comment not related to the post. If you refuse to post my comment, to your blog, I probably will no longer visit it, rude sorry. If you refuse me advertising, well I probably will not pay it any mind, there are tons of others who will. If Entrecard adds say a timer, for a certain amount of time that must be spent on each blog, to get credit much like other traffic exchanges, bravo. If Entrecard starts making demands that we have to leave comments on blogs, then I will drop on like 25 blogs, leave comments, and that will be it. I most definitely do not have time to leave comments on every blog I visit, advertise on, or that advertises on me. To try to enforce something like that is absurd, in my honest opinion.

Easter, Entrecard, and Adgitize

I hope everyone had a happy Easter. Below are the pictures of my kids Easter morning, going to church. The bunny cake, came out good, it was nice and moist. I think he looks kind of psychotic, but kids wanted no candy on it, just frosting, so you can see my artistic abilities with frosting drawing.

I would like to talk about Entrecard, for a minute. I have been reading blogs, and contemplating all the issues surrounding Entrecard. First I would like to know if anyone knows how we can cash in credits. I read their blog which explained the algorithim of who was getting paid, in what order, but there was nothing about how to do it. If anyone knows I would love to know too. I have been using Entrecard for a full year, and for a full year, it was completely free. All they asked was for us to be supportive to Entrecard. Now they want to earn some money, and I can not see how I can fault them for that. Running a website is very expensive. At first I was kind of peeved, because basically we were putting paid ads on our blog, and they were making money off of us. No I do not think so. Then they said, we could earn a portion of the profits, Ok that would work for me. I am accepting paid ads, but they do have to be in the category of my blog. All three of my blogs, are doing that. As for the issue of those who use their credits to exchange advertising only, on others blogs, I do not think 50% of the advertising space is unfair. Since it is free, and I am a member of Entrecard, I can not find fault with this. I do not want to pay for advertising, so biting the hand that is giving me free advertising, simply does not make sense to me. Yes I do spend a great deal of time, doing Entrecard, but it is no more than time I would spend at other Social Networks, traffic exchanges or other advertising means, and not get nearly as good results as I have gotten with Entrecard. So that is my take on Entrecard. I am still waiting to see how they sell back option is going to work.

Now to Adgitize. I am actually quite adgitated with Adgitize. I was making an average of 6 cents per day, and did make payout. Now I am clicking more of the blogs, way more, and my earnings are down to 1-2 cents a day. This will not work for me, should it continue. As with any other program I am a member of, I will give it 30 days, re evaluate, and then probably leave. I do not know why the earnings has decreased so much, but since I am doing more work, it does not make me happy.

Thank You To My Top Droppers, Apology, Contest Update

Yesterday, I was able to drop my cards on my jewelry blog, when I switched over to drop on my Homeschool blog, it said my account was deleted. I went to my email to see why, and learned that due to ads I had playing, in the background, that was why my account was deleted. I use pay per play, those were the ads in the background, I had no idea this was against Entrecard's terms, as they did not have enough decency to contact me first, just poof deleted my account. I lost all my advertisers that had purchased ads, I hope they gave you back your credits, and I apologize to all of you. I also lost all my credits, and my ranking went back to 1. So my advertising is cheap again, so be sure to purchase at the great rate. I really do appreciate the oppurtunity Entrecard has given me, in building my traffic, I really think their customer service policy is lacking however. I deleted the pay per play links, it wasnt making enough money to worry about it, and my blog was reinstated. So I apologize to anyone who lost their slot, but hopefully did not lose their credits. If you have any ads or music, playing in the background of your blog, you better remove it, or they will delete you. I see where some others were deleted today, I wonder what rule they broke. Of course all this could have been avoided if I had read the whole TOS, when I signed up. Live and learn, that is what I say.

Entrecard Deleted, Lesson Plans, Volcano Cake, Firetruck Treats

I was supposed to do my top Entrecard droppers, for September, but I got an email this morning saying this blog was deleted. Why, because I had something playing in the background. I removed it, and requested that they reinstate my blog. They have not yet, when and if they do, I will post my top droppers.

Sez Who, teams up with Entrecard, some controversy

Sez Who, and Entrecard have created a partnership, to help Entrecard members get more comments, and thereby more traffic to their blogs. I personally think this is a neat idea, and concept. I have read several posts today, some that are irritated with the whole idea. For me, it will not technically change how or when I comment. If they happen to have sez who, on their blog grea, if they dont, that is ok too. I only comment on things, I find interesting, or have some knowledge of. Like I visit a golf blog everyday. I have not one concept of golf, I still give him my visit, but dont comment unless something comes up that I know of. For my two blogs, melissas homeschool, and melissas jewelry and gemstone blog, if I find people commenting in order to just win more points I will delete the comments. I want people to comment on my topics that they are truly interested in, find interesting, or have knowledge of. The same as I would do for them. I think the Sez Who and Entrecard partnership, is a great thing, and will take some getting used to. Just like anything else that is new to us.
