Happy Thanksgiving Bread Cornucopia and Sales

Happy Thanksgiving, one day late, lol. I just didn't have time yesterday to get a blog post done. I hope you all had a wonderful day. We did, it truly was great. My husband had to do a structure fire in the wee hours of Thanksgiving morning. Thank goodness they were able to save the home with only minimal damage done. Everyone at church on Wednesday was having cold symptoms, so the whole house got sanitized with bleach two days in a row in preparation for Thanksgiving company. It was freezing here, 25 degrees, so baking the turkey for six hours was nice for a change. My mom and some very special friends joined us this year, for Thanksgiving dinner. Craig asked me to make a Cornucopia made of bread. Um, never did that before, lol. I was supposed to use refrigerated bread sticks, but apparently they are popular and three different stores had none. So, I used crescent rolls and it came out just fine. The recipe said this was easy, I would not qualify it as easy. It was very time consuming, but it did look nice on the table.

My 25 Days of sales even starts today. So, hop over to my craft blog, and follow so you don't miss anything. Today, you can get an Amethyst ring for only 10 dollars. Go to Melissas Jewelry and Gems, to follow along. A new item, marked down at least 50% every day.

Why Do They Call It Black Friday?

Silly me, I always thought it was called Black Friday, because of the way people acted on that day. Rude, obnoxcious, out of control, all negative things so I just assumed that is why it was given such a name. Of course, now that I am older, and much wiser, I know Black Friday really refers to the amount of sales done on that day. To bring them out of the red, and into the black in other words to make a profit. They offer huge discounts, and specials which people will start lining up for sometimes at 3 AM. I participated once, as a young woman, and vowed to never do it again. I could not believe the fashion in which people behave, to just save a few bucks. The pushing, shoving, cursing, running, trampling, screaming, grabbing, just plain rude behavior. I am assuming if you watch the news, you know where this story is going. A Wal-Mart on Long Island had a major incident on Black Friday. A store worker, was trampled to death by shoppers. The shoppers were so intent on getting in the store, they pushed the doors right off the hinges, in the mad rush. While the worker lie on the floor gasping for air, not one shopper stopped to help, or see if he was ok, they just kept trampling over him to get to the all mighty deals. A pregnant woman, was also injured in the stampede. Thankfully though she was injured, her baby is okay. Of course they are somehow trying to blame Wal-Mart for this. How is Wal-Mart to blame for the way these people acted. They had no regard for life, to get a toy, or TV or some other object. I can not even begin to say how disgusted I am with this whole Black Friday shopping day. Not to mention with society, and the values that have been ignored.
